YMCA Tiger Academy is a free public charter elementary school serving Pre-K through 5th grade students in Jacksonville. Since opening our doors in 2009, YMCA Tiger Academy has been committed to educating the whole child — spirit, mind, and body — through a strong partnership with the First Coast YMCA.
At YMCA Tiger Academy, we believe school should be more than a place where children learn reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. School should be a place where students are known, challenged, supported, and inspired to become confident learners, strong leaders, and people of character.
As we enter a new chapter, YMCA Tiger Academy is renewing its commitment to strong academics, strong character, and a strong sense of community. Our students are taught by highly qualified, professionally certified, mission-driven educators who believe deeply in their potential and are committed to helping every child grow.
Our school model focuses on rigorous academic instruction, character development, personal responsibility, leadership, and family engagement. Through our connection to the YMCA, students and families also benefit from enrichment opportunities, wellness-centered programming, and support services that extend beyond the classroom.
Tiger Academy offers a learner-centered school day from 8:00am to 3:30pm, with afterschool care available for families. Each day is designed to help students build the academic skills, confidence, discipline, and leadership habits they need to succeed in school and in life.
