Principal’s Page

Dear Tiger Academy Families,

It is an honor to introduce myself as the new Principal of YMCA Tiger Academy. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to join this school community and to begin this next chapter alongside our students, families, staff, and YMCA partners.

From the moment I began learning more about YMCA Tiger Academy, I could see that this is a school with a strong history, committed families, and students full of promise. I am excited to build on the foundation already in place while working together to make our school an even stronger place for children to learn, grow, and lead.

When I think about the kind of school I want YMCA Tiger Academy to be, I think about a village. A village is a place where children are known, families are welcomed, teachers are valued, and every adult plays a role in helping students succeed. A great school is more than classrooms, schedules, curriculum, and test scores. It is a place where children feel safe, loved, challenged, and supported every day.

That is the kind of school community I believe in, and that is the kind of school we will continue building at YMCA Tiger Academy.

To our Tiger families, I want you to know this: your children deserve the very best, and we are committed to giving them our very best. They deserve dedicated, highly qualified, certified teachers who believe in them, challenge them, and help them reach their full potential. They deserve joyful classrooms, strong academics, clear expectations, and a school culture where they are proud to be Tigers.

My commitment is simple: we will build a Tiger village. In this village, every child will be seen, every family will have a voice, and every adult will be responsible for helping our students succeed. We will focus on academic excellence, character, leadership, and strong relationships between home and school.

One of my personal goals is to know every family before the first day of school. I want to know your child, hear your hopes for their future, and begin building the trust that strong schools require. At YMCA Tiger Academy, I do not see families as visitors to the school. I see you as part of our extended Tiger family.

Over the coming weeks, families will have several opportunities to meet with me during our Open Houses. You are also welcome to call the front office to schedule a one-on-one meeting if that works better for your family. Whether we meet at an Open House or in a personal conversation, I look forward to getting to know you and your child.

At YMCA Tiger Academy, we will continue to honor the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. These values will guide the way we teach, lead, communicate, and support one another each day.

A little about me: I have dedicated my career to serving students and families as a K–8 Principal, Assistant Principal of Instruction, Instructional Coach, and Elementary and Middle School Teacher. Most recently, I had the privilege of leading a K–8 campus of approximately 1,000 students that became the highest-performing charter school in its network while maintaining 100% teacher retention. I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University and hold certifications in Educational Leadership and Primary Education.

While I am proud of my professional journey, what matters most to me is the daily opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children. I believe in strong relationships, clear expectations, honest communication, and doing what is right for students, even when the work is hard.

YMCA Tiger Academy’s future is bright. I am excited for what we will build together, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this community. Thank you for welcoming me into the YMCA Tiger family and for trusting us with your children.

We will build a Tiger village together. That is my promise.

Strong Minds. Strong Character. Strong Community.
Leaders Today… Tigers Tomorrow

With gratitude,
Cordell Manns
Principal
